As 2023 came to a close, we connected with Nike Running’s senior product director to discuss the division’s latest innovative breakthrough — the Alphafly 3. Designed for running marathons, the technological marvel has been well-received, with pairs flying off of shelves thanks to runners eager to give the new design a try. While its “Volt” colorway arrived earlier this year, it’s nearly time for the “Blueprint” look to hit the market.
Unveiled during Nike’s Olympic-themed performance footwear showcase back in April, the “Blueprint” pair is part of a larger collection of silhouettes sporting the white, blue and orange look. Per usual, the Alphafly 3 sports a fully-connected ZoomX sole unit and Atomknit upper that focus on responsiveness and breathability respectively, all while securing the runner’s feet. As for the look’s unique attributes, it begins with a white knit upper that is accented by a large blue Swoosh at the lateral, starting at the white sculpted midsole and running up towards the heel. It also sees a smaller blue Swoosh printed at the medial and features Nike “PROTOTYPE” branding at the tongue. Orange enters the mix at the heel tab and the revealed Zoom Air unit while a black outsole rounds things out.
At the time of writing, Nike has not announced its release procedure for this “Blueprint” colorway of the Alphafly 3. However, it is currently expected to launch via Nike SNKRS and select running retailers on July 3 at a starting price of $285 USD.
