New Balance’s lifestyle offerings continue to evolve with the times as the brand sees pivots from one key silhouette to another each season. While the 1906R remains a major player for the brand, it looks to be handing off the torch to the 1000 this year. The 1999 design made its return for its 25th anniversary via Joe Freshgoods’ “When Things Were Pure” pack last month before it saw its in-line release take place later in April. Now, while Teddy Santis teases one Aimé Leon Dore-designed pair after another, we have a first look at two new reflective designs.

Both new reflective colorways sport the silhouette’s typical elements — a sculpted sole unit, sleek shape and branding elements such as the “N” logos on each side and a “1000” hit at the lateral toe. Looking closer at the black pair, it sports a purple to orange to yellow gradient at its tongue and between its overlays. As for the overlays themselves, they appear in black before turning purple when reflecting light. On the other hand, the silver pair sees is monochromatic build enlivened by reflective overlays as well, though simply brightening its appearance instead of shifting colors.

At the time of writing, New Balance has not disclosed when either of these two reflective colorways of the 1000 silhouette will be landing on shelves. Stay tuned for updates, including official imagery of the two pairs of kicks, as we expect them both to release later this year at a price of $150 USD via New Balance and select retailers.
