Clarks Sunset: A Clarks In Manchester Film is an ode to Manchester’s thriving underground rave scene. Directed by Glenn Kitson, the film travels back to the early 1990s and focuses on the “style, cars, fashion, clubs, DJs and shoes” of the era, exploring the culture prominent at local raves and superclubs from past and present alike.

Sunset follows two groups, Tony and Rose in 1991, and Connor and his friends in the present day, as they make their way to what could be the night of their lives,” Clarks explains of the film in an Instagram caption.

“A love letter to the rave, set now and then – we throwback to the early 90s rave scene in Manchester joining the dots between the past and the present, with the intangible things that made it special and those elements that are always authentic in the scene like Clarks.” Stream the film in the below Instagram post.

Even Kitson himself has personal ties to the footwear brand. “I’ve always worn Clarks,” he conveyed in a statement. “Wallabees in particular.”

“They’re a staple of mine. The brand has genuine authenticity in so many communities and cultures, and for this project, we wanted to explore rave culture, especially up north. It was important to join the dots between the past and the present and to show how echoes of the past are just as relevant with the youth of today.”

In tandem with the captivating cinematic short, Clarks also reworked the Wallabee to sparkle under the hues of the strobe lights. The classic silhouette arrives in three vibrant colorways, adorned in all-over wavy patterns to evoke the free-spirited ethos of rave culture.

The Swirl Collection leads the new footwear foray, covered in psychedelic swirls throughout the suede silhouette. The Daisy Collection features embroidered florals stamped across the uppers, and the Yin-Yang Collection sees a dual-toned effect on its earthy crepe sole.
